Mind/Body Connection

December 17th, 2008

It seems as a country that the United States is on the cusp of a game-changing and perspective-shifting period in our history.  This time before our new President-elect takes over seems to have us in a holding pattern, as a country we are holding our breath and hoping nothing dramatic happens before Barack Obama takes over and we can get down to the business of changing our culture, our country's direction and our future. It is an exciting time frame but also a bit stressful, not knowing what to do next or how things will turn out.

It has felt this way for myself as well.  I am feeling that same "holding of breath" as the holiday's approach and 2008 closes. I sense that many things are changing, that 2009 will be the beginning of new opportunities and directions for me personally and professionally, but things are still a little foggy about the implications right now.

I am proud of my accomplishments in 2008.  I completed my Gyrotonic Certification and am now a fully trained and seasoned instructor. It has been fun to explore this new modality and witness my own transformation from confused and muddled movement to the clarity of intention that I experience now.  I credit the structured training program and the outstanding master trainers that I worked with throughout the year, they brought me confidence, excitement and energy around this work.

As part of Chix In Business, I planned several large events, including our Anniversary Party and our Holiday Party, but I was most excited to have been a part of our "green" event - The Business of Living and Working Green.  It was an educational experience for me to reach out and meet the Triangle's experts in the green industry. I am also excited to have been chosen to follow Elizabeth Galecke's footsteps as President of Chix In Business for 2009.  I will begin my role in January, and am grateful for the opportunity to lead such an inspiring group of women.

As a trained HeartMath provider, I used their tools and concepts to deliver Stress Reduction Workshops all over the Triangle and beyond to western North Carolina.  As the economy continues to fluctuate and stress us out, I expect the opportunites to share the benefits of lower stress and more peace and balance will continue.

And The Essential Path, which has been my own long-held business and a personal path of fulfillment, allows me to work with individuals on a one-on-one basis to improve their lives. I look forward to continuing to grow this side of my business as I shift my focus to Health and Wellness Coaching and find an opportunity to work with many energized and motivated clients in 2009.

To close, I wish you all a wonderful holiday season with your families and loved ones.  And a fruitful and energizing 2009!

With Intent, Susan

What is Coaching?

Coaching provides a valuable tool to recognize the inner truth of what is inside of each client and bring it forth into reality. The services provided by The Essential Path assist a client in setting targeted and achievable goals that will lead to success in their career and increased satisfaction within a client's life.

The actions that the client takes to achieve their goals set the course of their essential path and with a coach's support, a client moves in their chosen direction.  A coach is committed to all aspects of a client’s life, realizing that all facets of one's life are interrelated.  Entering into a coaching agreement is creating a relationship that challenges, reflects back and celebrates a client goals and actions.

More specifically, coaching is about learning who you are, what supports your true nature and creating a plan of accountability to finally acheive those goals and dreams.  With a coach, moving into action and striking a balance between all aspects of who we are: mind, body and soul, becomes a priority. A coach is a mix of objective listener, brainstorming partner, cheerleader and goal auditor.

The goal of the coaching relationship is to create open communication, feedback and accountability to ensure the client’s progress and success.
